Covers is a series of sculptural paintings made from old horse blankets. Rafa collected these blankets and mended them over the years in order to preserve them. For the exhibit, she unfolded them and covered them with thin layers of gold, bronze, or copper. Although the mended seams still attest to the passage of time and intensive use, Rafa has rescued the blankets from further decomposition and presents them as enduring, precious relics.
