Vilmos Huszár split up the shape of a sleeping woman into red, blue and yellow areas and then reassembled it with care and attention. Huszár moved to the Netherlands from his native Hungary at the age of 22. In 1917 he became involved in De Stijl, the group of artists formed around Piet Mondrian, Gerrit Rietveld and Theo van Doesburg and remained true to the ideals of that group throughout his life. At the same time, he also resisted the "typically Dutch" mentality, which he considered too rigid, while he believed that an artist should have the freedom to vary his style. [text 2026]
