Sanquin launches the special ‘The Art of Donating’ campaign in collaboration with Dutch museums.

Sanquin is launching the special campaign ‘The Art of Donating’, in partnership with the Netherlands Museum Pass Foundation and museums across the Netherlands, including the Centraal Museum. The campaign puts iconic works of art in the spotlight, such as The Night Watch, Panorama Mesdag, T. rex Trix, The Sower by Van Gogh and the Red and Blue Chair by Gerrit Rietveld. While art can sometimes seem priceless, this campaign makes it literally accessible ‘for a little prick’.

The Art of Giving
If you sign up between 30 April and 14 June 2026 via www.sanquin.nl/prikkie, you could win 2 Museum Cards. That way, donating is not only meaningful, but also an experience to share, and you can —for next to nothing —enjoy unlimited access to the Centraal Museum and more than 500 other museums for an entire year.
Due to donor attrition, Sanquin needs 60,000 new blood donors every year
To keep the blood supply in the Netherlands stable, Sanquin is constantly looking for new blood donors. Every year, some existing donors stop donating, for example due to age, health, or changing personal circumstances. That is why a steady influx of new donors is essential to maintain the blood supply.
Blood is needed every day for operations, cancer treatments and emergencies. It is estimated that one in four people in the Netherlands will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives. Despite its vital importance, only three percent of the population donates blood or plasma. New donors therefore remain urgently needed. With a new campaign, Sanquin aims to raise awareness and reach new target groups, helping to ensure a secure blood supply in the future.
