For this dress, she quilted a MAMA packet together with scraps of fabric from traditional Chinese and Vietnamese clothing. ‘MAMA noodles are a kind of meme for working-class Asian immigrant children. When our parents had to work, we would make them after school for ourselves as a little snack.’
