Armand Baag placed a classic Western nude in an abstract futuristic landscape. Art critics describe his work as ‘Afro-futurism’. It depicts a dreamed ideal world for Black communities. Baag draws inspiration from science fiction and fantasy, but also from the knowledge, stories and religions of the African diaspora: the descendants of people who were snatched from the African continent by European slave traders and scattered across the globe.
