111 Navy Chair
The 1006 Navy Chair was designed for use on navy ships and submarines in the United States. Strength and lightness were essential for this design. The chairs are still made manually today according to a 77-step process. This patented production method produces aluminium that is three times stronger than steel, enabling it to carry a weight of around 700 kg. The 1006 Navy Chair is therefore also known as the unbreakable chair. The model was recently executed using a very different material: 111 PET bottles. [text 2023]
