Horrors play out in Sanam Khatibi's dreamscapes. A sweet story, on closer inspection, turns out to be incredibly grim. Khatibi paints memories with the precision of a Dutch fine artist and the detailing of a Persian miniaturist – European realism meets the magic of One Thousand and One Nights. This creates the typically 'uncanny' atmosphere of Surrealist art. [text 2023]
