14th September 1957: the Van Baarens bought a twenty works from Nieuwenhuizen Segaar, including this painting. They decided to bequeath the collection and a building on Nieuwegracht to the Van Baaren Museum Foundation. ‘The interior should somewhat reflect that of the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Hoge Veluwe in terms of the pleasant and friendly furnishings in the rooms, with fresh flowers in beautiful vases at regular intervals, thus avoiding the all-too-familiar musty museum effect.’ [text 2023]
