The Van Baaren siblings bought no fewer than 26 paintings from the French artist Lydia Radda. Lambertus went for her Parisian cityscapes, but Josephina was more into Radda's still-lifes which she saw at Nieuwenhuizen Segaar in 1956. Radda was 'discovered' by art journalist H.P. (Henk) Bremmer, who greatly influenced purchases by Dutch collectors by working together with this Hague art gallery. For instance, he advised Hélène Kröller-Müller on her art collection in Otterlo.
