Our team
The Centraal Museum is supported by a diverse team of staff and volunteers. From curators and programmers to technicians and visitor assistants. Together, we work on exhibitions, research and public programmes.

Departments
A museum is more than a building, a collection or an exhibition. It is the work of people who dedicate their knowledge, time and energy every day.
One person works on an exhibition, while another makes visitors feel welcome. Someone looks after the collection, maintains the building, develops an educational programme or raises awareness of the museum. And volunteers contribute their time, experience and enthusiasm to everything we do.
Ensures that the museum is well organised and financially sound. The department is responsible for finance, human resources and IT, and ensures that colleagues have the right resources, systems and support to do their work.
Takes care of the collection—from registration, conservation and restoration, and research to safely preserving our collection for the future and making it available to other museums.
This department manages the shops, museum cafés, function rooms, events and guided tours at our locations. Together with our volunteers, they ensure a warm and enjoyable museum experience.
They shape the museum’s curatorial programme and advise on the management, preservation and expansion of the collection. They develop exhibitions and projects, conduct research and make knowledge about the collection accessible through publications, gallery texts, lectures and other programmes.
Builds lasting relationships with foundations, partners, friends and donors. Enables ambitions to become reality and allows us to invest together in the museum’s future.
Facilities ensures that the museum’s locations are safe, well maintained and welcoming. From security and building management to exhibition installation and fit-out, the department enables the museum to operate smoothly every day and creates a positive visitor experience.
Turns plans into action. Coordinates projects, connects different teams and ensures that ideas develop into exhibitions, programmes and other tangible results.
Translates the museums’ programming and stories into accessible communications, campaigns, education and public programmes. Through research, digital tools and partnerships, the department reaches and engages a wide range of audiences, with particular attention to people for whom visiting a museum is not a given.

Supervisory Board
Since 2013, the Centraal Museum has been an independent foundation with a Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board oversees the museum’s policies and management in accordance with the Cultural Governance Code. This code concerns good governance, supervision and transparency. Volunteers
Our museums have a highly committed team of volunteers who enthusiastically dedicate their time every day. Thanks to their efforts, we are able to offer visitors a better and broader range of services, including in our shops and at the entrances and cloakrooms of our museums, while also contributing to society more broadly. Our volunteer team consists of around 125 enthusiastic people, and that number continues to grow.
