The art of iconoclasm
De tentoonstelling The Art of Iconoclasm, samengesteld door kunsthistoricus en schrijver Sven Lütticken, bestaat uit twee delen: From Idol to Artwork, dat te zien was bij BAK, basis voor actuele kunst te Utrecht, en Attacking the Spectacle in het Centraal Museum. The Art of Iconoclasm onderzoekt de relatie tussen religieus iconoclasme (het vernielen van afbeeldingen) en iconoclastische gebaren en strategieën in moderne en hedendaagse kunst. Zij stelt dat iconoclasme niet gewoonweg ‘iconofoob’ vandalisme is, maar een manier om vraagtekens te plaatsen bij wat doorgaat voor visuele cultuur — een poging het beeld te herdefiniëren en herverbeelden. Kunstenaars: Carl Andre, Carel Blotkamp, Guy Debord/Jean-Léon Gérôme, Rod Dickinson & Tom McCarthy, Hans Haacke, Arnoud Holleman, Imi Knoebel, Gert Jan Kocken, Krijn de Koning, Willem Oorebeek, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Haim Steinbach, Rosemarie Trockel en Lidwien van de Ven.
